How To Use Military Smoke Grenades?

Here's how to use a smoke grenade:

In the Swedish Military, there are two doctrinal uses of smoke grenades:

Blinding: you can hurl the smoke grenade in the direction of your enemy. In the effect, you are blinding them and are able to make them move out of their position to take a new firing position.

  • The positive of this tactic is that it can severely blind a person from the infantry, depending on the smoke.
  • The negative of this tactic is that the enemy soldier will have to move a small distance to avoid the smoke. Vehicles are also not affected by this tactic.
  • Screening: a smoke grenade is applied between you and your enemy's position. As a result, you are able to move around your enemy's line of vision and surprise them.
  • The positive of this tactic is that it is rather easy to apply and you can be quite far away from the enemy's position.
  • The negative of this tactic is that it does not keep the enemy from firing behind the smoke cloud. However, you are given a very small area of movement. It may leave nearby units on your side on their own.
